Bethel reclaims itself
Well Monroe has a problem on it's hands now. Word is some artifacts have shown up at the site of the new high school. If they are from the historic village building will not happen on this land. I do feel for the township in that I'm sure they felt this was a perfect location and I don't believe anyone except for Rich Walling was sure anything would be found out there. The history gods sure have a strange way of showing themselves but it must be respected. I hope that all parties involved can find a way to work through this whole mess, kind of glad I am not in this one it could get really ugly... :-)

You bet it's a mess.
However, apparently the powers that be supressed previous evidence of the Bethel settlement, making the whole deal a sham from day one.
Last year, I think, I spoke against the land swap at a Freeholders' Meeting. Thompson Park was purchased with Green Acres bonds the citizens of NJ voted for. Giving that land away was breaking a long standing covenant with the people.
There were other locations for the school expansion, and the land Monroe was trying to trade was already designated for non-development, so trading open space for open space is not exactly legal at all.
Political pressure, rather than what was right was pushing the deal along. Now, those lies and manipulations come back to haunt them all.
Hi James! Sorry I missed you. House is a mess anyhow, but it would have been nice to see you. Spent all day at the NJ Horse Park helping a young rider at the NJ State 4-H Horse Show.
